I recently took my my car to ACD Bellville for a diagnostic. The mechanic phoned me and told me that my distributor, coil and spark plugs are faulty and that it would cost R2400 for repair. I was not in a financial position to make such a commitment and said its fine just do the diagnostic. When i collected my vehicle, i did not receive a diagnostic report. Instead i received a job card "quote" for the R2400. I then phoned to ask for a report, and i was promised to receive it via e-mail as they keep copies for these types of circumstances. Later i received a call from the mechanic saying that "i didn't realize that diagnostic meant, fault finding". I said okay, i was under the impression that it was a full car check with a report that i could just take to any mechanic to fix. He said no, no, no its just to find the fault and that i signed for it and that an hours labour in the garage is anyway the same price as the diagnostic. I don't know i'm just really disappointed, as i could have gone to another place to do a full diagnostic cheaper. I actually expected better service as they are AA certified.
