I know the difference between professionalism (including necessary security measures) and blatant. As a traveller/business person, I normally hire car from Budget. In all the times that I have hired from them, including the very first time, I was never investigated. In this instance, Budget didn't have any cars in the range I wanted so I went to try Thrifty Car Rentals. Enter the investigation. It started with where is your airline ticket? This is after I had given them my passport, drivers licence and credit card. I couldn't understand because I have never been asked for my airline ticket before, not from Hertz or Avis either. The investigation then turned to my credit card: what is your country code-I told them. I waited for 10 minutes while they phoned my bank. The amazing thing was the protegee attending to me appeared to be embarrassed by all this and the gentleman assisting her carried the attitude leading to this complaint. It was interesting watching an all white staff serving other customers (white foreigners)-I marvelled. My bank confirmed all was in order-then thriftily I left, without the car of course, no use dealing with people like that company rules or not
