Herewith I would like to lodge a complaint against Thrifty Car Rental Services.
As per voucher issued by Drive South Africa (the company I did my booking through), I understood that I was to pay a R1000-00 deposit. Thrifty Car Rental clearly stated that I must pay a R5000.00 holding fee (for an Atos?). They gave me the promise that this fee would not be deducted from my credit card and that it is a hold to ensure that the car they gave us was returned in the same condition. After they took the details of the card, the transaction was actually processed and deducted from my credit card.
Firstly, the car that they provided us with, was dented, scratched and had chips on the window. We duly recorded all the details on the sheet and the sheet was signed by a Thrifty employee.
When we returned the car this morning at approx. 4 o clock, there was nobody to receive or check the car. Thrifty's offices were closed. We had to park it and drop the key in the blue safe-box. This is totally unacceptable as somebody may tamper with the car, and thus giving an excuse to Thrifty not to pay my money back to me.
This is very unproffessional
