I have an existing cheque account with FNB which I opened a few years back. Today is my payday and I was shocked when I went to the ATM and found to have insufficient funds. The message had come through that my salary had been deposited. I went into the office and called the bank's customer care and was told that my account had been blocked and could not tell me what the reason was and was referred to the branch where I was told that the account was blocked because I had not submitted proof of residence which I actually submitted when I actually opened the account. The consultant, Jacky actaully confirmed that by pulling out my file and the document was indeed there.

At that stage my salary had rejected and was not reflecting in my account, I have commitments which I need to honour and creditors were calling me non-stop because the debit orders have rejected. To my surpise I was told that an sms was sent to me when infact I did not receive anything. I have a cheque account with FNB and when they adverise it they say you have access to relationship banking, Why was I not informed of this and why before blocking my account did FNB not check if I had complied with FICA.
