I received an sms from ABSA yesterday at 16h30 saying that my credit card would be deactivated the same night. I only saw this sms about an hour after I'd already tried and failed to use my card.
The reason the card was deactivated is because ABSA wants a copy of my ID and proof of address... I've had this card for almost 3 years already!
My 2 problems are the following:
1) The notification period was ridiculously too short! How can you just deactivate my card within 2 hours of notification?
2) I'm pretty sure I used my FICA documents to obtain the account. Why do I need it now when my card is set to expire only a few months from now?!
You can't treat customers this way. It's like they're trying to drive business away!
