The FICA Process at ABSA Bank is absolutely appalling!
My wife and I applied for a new ABSA Debit Card in November 2012 and had to be FICA'ed. This was done and a new Debit Card was issued, and all working.
Approximately 6 weeks later in January 2013, the account was Frozen by ABSA due to Non FICA..? No phone call, SMS or communication from ABSA. They JUST FREEZE THE ACCOUNT..!
I go in to ABSA Branch and they inform about a problem Backlog for FICA processes at H/O, and very apologetically force a re-open of the account. Problem supposedly fixed.
On 8 February 2013 the account is FROZEN again by ABSA...? Same FICA problem again..which again apologetically re-force an open for us.
Now ABSA come with excuses that we perhaps did not supply correct proof of Physical Home Address?

How can they issue us with a new Debit Card in November last year if we did not FICA correctly?
I was informed by ABSA on my 2nd visit of complaint that all FICA Docs were issued accordingly?
How can Someone at ABSA just Freeze one's account without ANY notification?

I have been with ABSA aprox. 15 Years, and am ready to Close all ABSA accounts and go somewhere else!
