I registered on the Transunion website so that I could get my free credit report which is offered. You have to go through a full registration process until the point where they tell you to enter the One time pin that has been emailed to you. This pin never arrives in your inbox. Eventually I had to call the call centre who tell you they have just emailed you the pin which again never arrives. The agent then has to verify you by asking you a series of questions before they can offer you further assistance like even just checking if the email address is correct. You spend your airtime of over 10 minutes on this process only to be pitched on their products first. I declined the offer only to then be told that in order to receive this free copy I have to fax or email my proof of residence and id. When I expressed frustration I was told this is to verify my details. I asked if this faxing is also a requirement online and the answer is no. The OTP is just a marketing strategy!
This is utter nonsense. I truly believe this is a ploy to get you to call so they can pitch their products for sale and then make it difficult to get your free credit report.
