Claim's nightmare

27/01/2013 - Had an accident, police took statements on the scene and vehicle was towed
28/01 - Reported to prime meridian and they sent me claim forms via email
29/01 - Sent forms back with supporting documents (AR, cellphone record and others): ffwd>>
31/01 - Assessor checks the vehicle and writes it off.
05/02 - I picked up the phone to check if documents were received. They said a Natis document is needed, I got it from my financer and sent it same time. Process will take up to 30 days they said.

12/02 - An assessor came to take pictures where the accident happened and some more forms were filled.
13/02 - 03/03: several follow-up calls, response is that file is still under investigation

15/03 - Received a call to say that the cellphone record I sent on the 5th Feb is not valid so I need to fill a certain form and sign it under the Commissioner of Oaths. This is a consent that Prime Meridian can request the information they want from my cellphone service provider.

Day 50: No car, no outcome.

Biggest questions: 1. Why do we buy insurance? 2. How many more months should I wait for the outcome?
This is all besides that my car was moved from Durban to Johannesburg.
