I went to ABSA ATM on Sunday morning at Northgate mall next to dischem entrance around 10:32. I wanted to withdraw 1000, and it seems like there was technical error with the machine. I followed the normal withdrawals process and the money came out in the skew format and quickly went back before I could pull it out and the machine displayed " THEY ARE UNABLE TO PROCESS MY QEQUEST DUE TO TECHNICAL PROBLEM" HOWEVER I STILL GOT THE CONFIRMATION SMS THAT THE MONEY CAME OUT AND THE RECEIPT SHOWED THAT R1000 WAS DEDUCTED FROM MY BALANCE. I inserted the card again immediately to withdraw another 1000 to be able to do my shopping and THE MONEY came out successfully same time.
I contacted the call centre immediately and only to be told by IVR that they only work between Monday and Friday.
I called the number again 0860008600 - on Monday morning and used the telephone banking only to be told by Themba that he will log a complain for ABSA to investigate and they will get back to me after 5 to 7 days.
Please advise where do you expect me to get another money from if that was my last R1000. Why should I be unconvinced because it was the machine technical faults not my fault.
