I applied for a loan last year June, which they approved without any problems. Yesterday (18/02/) I phoned the call centre to request a settlement figure, and the friendly consultant even told me I qualify for another loan. Unfortunately I did not have the required documents with me and went back. The consultant entered all my details into the system and told me: Loan declined because I bank with Capitec Bank where my salary gets deposited into! This is absolutely ridiculous! This is discrimination! If I didn't't know better, it is their way of forcing clients to move all their banking to Nedbank. I remember a consultant phoning me just after applying for my loan asking if I don't want to maybe consider moving to Nedbank, but after this attitude, NEVER! The consultant in the branch told me that Capitec is a new bank and does not have all the facilities any other "normal" bank has, and therefore does not provide a "credit score". What if I had just a normal savings account at any other bank? A savings account does not give you a credit score, only a cheque account and credit cards etc. My credit score is also available on the credit buro! I don't need credit score from a bank!
