Nedbank
Sharing my personal details

On 23 December I received an SMS from HiFiCorp offering me a loan. On 2 January, I received another SMS from Nedbank Secure Online Holiday Banking and then on 8 January a third SMS from HiFiCorp once again. All from the same number (0840001392) and as I have a Nedbank account, I'm assuming that's how HiFiCorp got my details. I'd like some clarity into this because to my knowledge I ticked all boxes (and options) to opt out of third party communication. I recall receiving an SMS from Nedbank to say I'd receive communication from time to time, which is ok if that communication is from you. "Dear Nedbank Client, to assist you in building financial fitness, we need to keep in touch with you from time to time with solutions that meet your needs. Reply YES, or NO to opt out." I didn't opt because I thought the SMS's would be of value. But I don't think HiFiCorp offering me a loan is building financial fitness. Previously, we were contacted by an insurance company after applying for a bond even though we opted out of any communication. I'd like to know why my details are being shared? Please email me in response.
