Payment taken on allready settled account

My Wes bank account was settled at the end of November 2013, but the debit order were deducted again in January 2014 which left my current bank account in overdraft as I did not budget for this amount to be deducted from my account which led to debit orders returned and my credit record corrupted. I phoned Wes bank on the 3rd of January requesting a refund and it is almost a week later and I did not receive anything as yet. This is now almost a week and I was told that this request will be processed within 48 hours.
Cannot trust the banks to refund when they take your money but if you do not pay them on time interest is charged!! I want interest on my money and compensation for my credit record condemned for the next 3 months!!!
