I called the mastercard division requiring to authorise a payment that had gone through my card. I went through the options until I got to the part that says from queries abt your existing card bla bla (option 7), then the pain began. Firstly it asks me for my 16 digit number, which I entered and then it asks me for my ID number. Now I am a foreign passport holder and the thing does not accept that kind of ID number. Now, that is not the part that I have a problem with, my problem is that the system tells you that ur ID number is invalid and after three tries it cuts you off the system, without the option to speak to a consultant/or a human to assist you. Now what am I supposed to do after that??? Please standard bank, as a bank that is moving forward. please either make your automated systems accept passport numbers or allow customers that do not use the standard SA ID to be directed to ta human being that can properly capture the ID number and assist them. The same goes for the automated system for registering for cellphone banking.
