I needed to make an appointment with a financial adviser at Standard Bank in Fourways. His private number just went dead. Calling the branch number I found on the Standard Bank website just got me through to an automated IVR without any option to speak to a human being. With rising frustration, I called the Standard Bank Customer Care Line. After listening for a minute to infomercials I finally got to speak to a consultant. He informed me that this was not Customer Care but Business Banking. He was kind enough to help me find the number of the Fourways Branch. After holding for almost 15 minutes, I was told he couldn't find a direct number either.
Why is this seemingly simple thing so hard for Standard Bank?

Why is the Customer Care Line (0860109075) actually a Business Banking Contact Centre?
Why does it take me 10 seconds on the FNB site to get a branch's contact details while on the Standard Bank ATM & Branch Locator I get: "There are no Branches for the location you have selected"?
