Saddened by service from Fn

I took a bank cheque from my account at FNB a while ago. However, we never used the cheque and unfortunately it was misplaced. The bank did take the money from my account, but I can't get any feedback about why I cannot be compensated for it. I am sure that at some point the bank will reflect the cheque that was not used. I have since been to three different branches, The a Glen, Lenasia and Trade Route Mall. I have not won at all three branches. Nobody gets back to me, and after months of calling, they finally tell me, sorry there's nothing they can do. The last branch I went to has still not responded, this this after leaving my details as well as a copy of my statement showing the amount deducted from my account.
I do hope I can get some assistance.
