FNB Cannot assist in cancelling a cheque

In March, I went into the Newton Park branch in Port Elizabeth, to draw up a bank guaranteed cheque. I got it. All good. I then couriered it to the people that required it in Durban. The application was denied, so the cheque was never used and expired. I then got a call from a lady in the Cheque dept. to advise me that the cheque was expired and she advised me to go into a branch to cancel the cheque and have the cash amount put back in my account. I went in, the consultant could not allocate the cheque on their system and advised I had to go through my statements to find the cheque number, I deleted my March statement, so I went in and advised then that I they must print the March statement rather, to get the cheque number. Another consultant assisted but said there was no need to print the statement as I can download them from my on-line banking. Something the previous consultant was not aware of! So I downloaded it and to my surprise, no cheque number. She then said the matter would need to be escalated and that it will take a while, maybe a week or two. I said I understand, its fine. It now has been two months and no call, no sms, no email and most importantly no money!!!
