Not willing to accept cheque

I visited FNB Woodlands this morning to deposit a cheque. The assistant did not want to accept the cheque because it was made out to "Pieter van der Walt" instead of "Pieter J. van der Walt" Even the supervisor was unwilling to accept it because she said that there are many people with the name of Pieter van der Walt. I even wanted to present my I.D. but not even that was enough proof that the cheque was in my name. They made me feel like a criminal!! I have deposited other cheques in the past with the same name on it, which were all accepted. I also have another account at Absa, so I took the cheque to Absa and they accepted it without asking any questions. I would like to close my FNB account but I've only recently moved over to FNB from Absa because of Absa's high banking costs. But at least Absa did not make me feel like a criminal. I still have my Absa account and could easily move back...
