Incompetent and unapologetic

On the 15th January, I went the Absa Melville branch hoping to cash a bank guaranteed cheque I had received as a gift. I was informed that it was impossible to "cash" a bank guaranteed cheque, but rather that it had to be deposited into an account & clearance of the funds would take 10 days. Seeing that I do not have an Absa account, I then enquired if it would be possible to rather deposit the cheque into my Virgin Money Credit card which was issued by Absa. After THREE tellers consulted, they unanimously agreed that this was not possible.
Again on the 23rd January, I returned to the branch to open an Absa account so that I could deposit the cheque into that account. After explaining my reason for opening the account, the consultant and her colleague informed me that it was in fact possible to deposit the cheque into my Virgin Money Credit card. The very same tellers who had told me that this could not be done were those who then accepted the cheque. When I enquired whether a special clearance could be done, in view of the inconvenient delay they had caused me if I had to wait a further 10 days, my request was brushed aside without the least apology.
