On Saturday 12th January I deposited a cheque (over the counter) in the bank. Anxiously waiting for the 10 working days so that the cheque can be cleared, I got a shock of my life! At first it was shown on my bank account that the amount was paid into my account, but then strangely the amount was debited again. Upon investigation I was merely informed by the bank that the cheque most probably got lost or perhaps the people transporting the money to head office was hi-jacked. So matter-of-factly... Now I have to go to the police station, to get an affidavit saying that the cheque is lost and would request the bank to issue a new cheque. Do you think ABSA is worried? They don't give a!!
