When I initially appraoched Essential Med I kept thinking wow this sounds too be goood to be true. Well my instincts werent wrong. Essential Med's promises to pay were too good to be true. On Sept 15th I phoned the ER number as listed and was told to go to the nearest trauma unit which I did. I was subsequently put on a drip for the incredible stomache ache. The doctor on duty also sent me for an xray. After a couple of hours I was allowed to go home (I still had the port of the drip in my arm). On theMonday I was still in a lot of pain so I contacted the hospital who referred me to a surgeon. He wanted to admit me but because I hadnt been with Essential Med for the required period I couldnt be booked in. I then went for an ultra sound and was booked in for a scope at a government hospital. Then I got the shock that Essental Med would not pay for the xray because of codes, neither the ultrasound because Im not pregnant. Out of all the medical bills incurred they have R1000. What a joke. I have also sent the trauma unit's account (14 days ago) to which there has been no response. Why promise to pay bills then when presented say the codes arent what they want to pay? My advice run away!
