Lost Card debacle

I found a Nedbank ATM card on the road next to my house over the past weekend. I noticed that it was still current and so decided to hand it in to the nearest branch which happens to be Fish Hoek Main road. The few days after the weekend I passed the branch too early but on Wednesday I purposely went past the branch on my way to work at 9:00am. There were a few people in the branch and so I approached a lady sitting at a desk helping a client. I apologised for the interruption to which the customer smiled and said go ahead. I placed the card on the desk and told the lady I had picked it up on the road. The representative then said I must take the card to the tellers and ask them to block it. I replied that I did not have time to stand in the queue and wait for a teller to become available and that she could do it when she was free. She told me again that I must take it to the teller. I took the card off her desk discarded it in the bin and walked out of the branch. The lesson I learnt is that no good deed goes unpunished and the next time I find a Nedbank card in the road I will hand it to the first street person I see and suggest they try and figure out the pin and have a party.
