My cheque card expires 31 Jan. I was phoned to confirm the branch of delivery. I chose the Tokai branch in Cape Town. On 7 Jan I received an SMS informing me that my card had been delivered to the Hatfield branch in Pretoria. I was informed that the card would have to be destroyed and a new one issued to the Tokai branch. On 10 Jan I received an SMS to inform me that my card was now at the Tokai branch. On 12 Jan I wanted to pay something with my old (but still valid) card, since I had not collected the new card yet. The transaction did not want to go through as the card was for some reason declined. I subsequently went to the Tokai branch to pick up my new card. Unlike other times I was not asked to place my card in the machine and encode it with my pin. Instead I was told that the pin should be the same as my old card, and I just had to test it at one of the tellers. I took my card to the teller, and the pin did not work. I had to enter it almost 20 times before it was eventually accepted. Later in the day when I wanted to pay for something using my new card, it was once again declined. Now I have to go to the bank on a Sunday to sort this out???
