I attempted to draw money using an RMB Private Bank card from a Nedbank ATM in Centurion. The ATM experienced a technical problem and shut down without even asking for my PIN. This is the second time in less than a year this happened to me at a Nedbank ATM. Thank goodness I am not a Nedbank customer. I will in future not use any Nedbank ATM.
The lost card division just kept on reciting a line that this was my problem to retreive the card, and was not willing to assist in any way. If I was an overseas customer, they would have retrieved the card, but as a South African the attitude was that it is my problem. A suggestion that the card be dropped off at the closest Nedbank branch when they service the machine the next time was dismissed.
My cost of obtaining a new card, the days I have to travel without a card is my problem, due to a technical problem at Nedbank. The previous time it happened on a weekend as I was about to travel overseas. I had to make the trip without a card, which was rather challenging.
I have only contempt for this bank, blaming the system and passing the buck.
