Be careful - the rewards have small print

I have swiped sales of R46, 552.57 on my FNB Credit Card in the last 3 months due to two overseas trips. On return from Thailand on 23 August 2013, my wife and I visited the Slow Lounge at OR Tambo International Airport. I used my FNB Credit Card to access the lounge expecting the R500.00 fee to be refunded. Well, dont expect anything when it comes to FNB rewards! Apparently there's a period within the 3 months that I only spent R2, 723.20 when I should have spent R5, 000.00, therefore I have not met the Slow Lounge access criteria!!! This, despite the fact that I could have used my FNB Cheque Card for free lounge access.
So, to cut a long story short, the FNB Card Division dont think that R46, 552.57 worth of spend in 3 months is worthy of a small reward by way of a Slow Lounge visit. They wont refund my R500.00 so I have instructed my Premier Banker to close the account. Sad, isn't it?
