Disgusting Guilt-Driven Sales

I was a Platinum Life customer for their cancer cover. I cancelled 2 years ago when I became unemployed. Since then, I have been contacted a few times to renew. I want to preface this by saying I have been in sales for 2 decades, and never in my life have I experienced such a callous approach to retentions.

Here is a summary:
- On cancellation, they offered to lower my premiums. I told them I have to prioritize debit orders and was told that cancer is increasing in women, and my daughter and I are at high risk of getting it. I was also told that when I get it, I can't contact them as their membership must be by invite.
- Every time afterward, when I have said that I am still unemployed and cannot afford it, they cannot take no for an answer. It is humiliating enough being unemployed in my 40s and to be told, "Yeah, we get it, times are tough, but..." three times. Also, cancer is becoming more and more prevalent, so be scared because there's a x% you will get it.

I know that call centers are trained for objections, but I am disgusted that their playbook includes guilt-tripping. Their overly friendly agents don't compensate for their abhorrent tactics.

People are suffering. Do better.
