First National Bank
FNB SLOW Lounge Ripp Off

FNB offers a free entry to their SLOW lounge at JNB and CPT airports if you have a platinum cheque or credit card of which I have both. On 7 October my son and I entered the Slow Lounge in Cape Town and I asked the person at reception which card I should use. She replied that it does not matter and I presented my credit card. To my surprise I found two charges of R250 for the Slow Lounge against my account. When I queried this I was informed that I did not spend R5000 on my credit card during the two previous months and thus the charge. If I had shown my cheque card then there would have been no charge. FNB is not prepared to reverse the charges. This is absolutely unacceptable because I qualified to get free entrance, but merely because I presented one card instead of the other I must pay. At the time that I entered I was not informed that I will have to pay and I certainly would not have made use of the facility.

On 15 July a group of 4 of us also used the SLOW Lounge in Cape Town and we all presented our platinum cards. All of us were charged R250 - a total of R1000 - again without warning us that there will be a charge. None of us will ever make use of the SLOW Lounge again.
