The end of last year I applied for personal loan from Nedbank. I am already a client for the past 3 years and have never been in bad credit with them. After application for my loan it took them a week to send me a text message that my loan for the amount I applied for was unsuccessful due to the fact that I am employed under a contract and not permanently. According to them, contract workers are only eligible for the sum of R 5000 over 12 months. I accepted this fact and went on my marry way. When we all came back after the Christmas holidays I heard that one of my colleagues applied for a personal loan at Nedbank for R 70 000 and it was approved within 3 days and he bought a motorbike. The problem with this is the colleague, whose loan was approved for R 35 000 MORE than I wanted to borrow and R 65 000 MORE than their 'contract worker policy', works under the very SAME contract that I am working under. So I ask you, why does his loan get approved and mine declined if he is also a contract worker? Next for me is the Ombudsman of South Africa and the equality court. This is unfair treatment and I was victimised, I don't know maybe it's just but the courts will decide.
