Just another reason why I DESPISE ABSA

I have not had a personal bank account for a couple of years although I've had a business account with ABSA for more than 10 years. I decide that the time has come to have a personal account of my own (better than my wife and I using hers). The logical thing to do is to approach ABSA and open an account with them...

So they tell me that I must get my accountant to write a letter stating my income and expenditure before I can open an account. Excuse me, YOU have more than 10 years history of my business in your systems, you want me to make a print out, give it to my accountant so that he can charge me R500 to write a letter to tell you what is in your system. Further, what do you care what I earn or spend, I am not asking you for a loan, I am asking you to provide me with an account that will cost me a lot of money in fees. You didn't give me any nonsense when I got my mobile speedpoint last week, how come. Could it be that you don't want personal bank accounts!

Next stop, Capitec... and if they give me a hard time too then I will go from bank to bank and see how long it takes to accomplish a very simple task.
