Both my wife and I are self employed persons, with a very good credit record, healthy financials etc, and so we applied for a home loan to buy the current house we stay in that we rent from our landlord. Nonetheless, we applied with ABSA, handed in all the documents, and were then told 3-5 days we should have a response from ABSA. Now ABSA were good at keeping us up to date with our application, so credit is due where due, but then were told 5 days later, that our application was declined. The bank manager from Clearwater branch then contacted me to inform us that the reason for the decline was because we have no relationship with ABSA-You have got to be kidding me? She also said that she appealed the decision, because our affordability and credit was very good, so why is Credit department declining such a client? She then advised me to lay a complaint with ABSA complaints, which we did Ref no: 2450739-well, they came back to me very quickly to say that they are declining it again, because ABSA have no relationship with us and we are high risk-good grief, where exactly are we high risk, when they were given all our docs to prove our value as a client and our financial situation.
