Charged for an account I did not authorise

I called ABSA bank to open a chq acc over the phone. I gave over all my details & was told that in order to open the acc I need to go to my branch with my ID and proof of residence. I went into my branch - Glen Marais with requested docs when the lady at enquires requested an affidavit from my fianc? in order to open the acc. I asked why he needs to do this and she became rude. I ended up leaving the branch without submitting any docs and decided to cancel the acc all together. After several DROPPED phone calls to ABSA I was no further HOWEVER I logged onto internet banking and see there is a chq acc open - how can this be when not all the docs have been sent? I received no confirmation, docs or acc details for this. I now had to keep calling to cancel the acc with no success. for 2 weeks I have been hounded for payment on said chq acc which I still have not submitted docs for I have explained this story everyday since the dilemma. to date the acc has still not been closed! I received an sms that my notification details have been changed. I went to my branch & for most of the morning tried to sort it out! I have now left with a closed acc and R216 poorer for an acc I never Auth!
