I opened a business acc at ABSA Randburg Business branch around 2005. All the required FICA documents were lodged with them. 4 or 5 years later I get a sms telling me I again I have to bring copies of the FICA docs in as their doc warehouse had burn out. Goodness, this is the 21st century, do they not keep scanned docs on disc that is backed up? I schelpped to my bank in town to get it all of it out of safe custody & take it to ABSA Rbg & gave them copies. At the time I worked in Rbg. About 3 years ago I again got an sms and again they said they had a fire!! I again complied. Then in about August last year I AGAIN got the same message & AGAIN they supposedly had a fire. After a of a scene in the branch, a lady approached me & tried to help. She said it was OK to send her the scanned in copies I had of the documents. I sent her what she asked for and I never heard from them again until I wanted to draw money. In April card was blocked from drawing money, an enquiry said FICA docs were outstanding. I phoned the branch manager & she put me onto Caryn. After emailing her the docs, it is still a problem. Promised her manager will phone me... none yet.
