Treated like a child: very unhappy

While in the past I collected my Student Credit Card from the Absa Branch in the Neelsie Student centre in Stellenbosch, in May my new credit card was sent to Pretoria, where I have not resided since 2005. Not once in 8 years has Absa asked vor proof of address, even while completing ALL transactions and applications in Stellenbosch. This morning I went to the branch in the Neelsie Student Centre in order to rectify this. Being promised quick, effective and all-round servive via internet banking, it is difficult to be unable to sort this out coneveniently.

The lady at the counter at first accused me of being the irresponsible party. I tried to stay calm while she explained the procedure to me as if I were a child. I am a 25-year old PhD student and found this very degrading. Not only did I find her rude, when asking questions about the nature of the procedure in order to get my new credit card sent to Stellenbosch, she became clearly agitated. I did not (and still don't) understand why it is nearly impossible for her to help me get my credit card to the right place.
