I have a Bidvest Bank account since 2010. I relocated to Cape Town in 2011. Nobody has every asked me for proof of address when I changed my details with the bank. On Friday 10 July I went to the St Georges Mall branch to deposit R10000 cash. Marvin refused to accept the deposit until I provided proof of residence. He was not clear about what document I should supply. I went to my office and returned with a tax certificate from Discovery Health. This was refused. I then returned with a copy of my lease agreement and Dr's statement. This was refused as the lease was only for one year and had expired. I had to run back and forth to my office with R10000 cash in my bag which was a bit dangerous. I was totally frustrated and lodged a call with the call centre the same morning. Hemrisha requested a copy of the document from Discovery and only today at 11:30 did I receive a call from her stating that the branch was advised to accept the letter I produced from Discovery. I think Management should advise branches on the protocal. Marvin should have told me in the first instance exactly what document was required. Totally disgusted seriously looking to close my account.
