I recently opened an account with Bidvest Bank, attempting to break away from ABSA, and was pleasantly surprised by how informal and simple it was to open an account, to bank with them and to speak to customer service. In all these experiences the staff were professional, well-trained and friendly, with one member of staff at Claremont Upper going out of her way to assist me in completing bank detail confirmation for a document I had to hand in. Ques are short if there are any at all. Business banking is not offered, but if your retail banking needs are as simple as mine (I am a student), I would highly recommend Bidvest Bank.
Going into one of the "Big Four" banks to make a deposit the other day, I was subjected to endless ques and inefficient staff (in a big branch I don't need, but pay for) which made me wonder why I hadn't changed sooner.
