WHEN DO YOU STOP TAKING MONEY

I have cancelled my policy in May 2013. July dial direct took off a payment from my account. When I phone and asked them to refund me they said I must send proof that the car was sold. Who does this work? It is my choice where I would like to go for insurance. WHEN WILL YOU REFUND ME???
