ABSA = All Stupid A@holes

My mom is in ICU in hospital and has been for the past two weeks.
Prior to her being admitted she provided me with access to her ABSA online bank account to conduct all her affairs while being treated in hospital.
Today I receive a SMS from ABSA Call Centre on my mom's mobile phone to contact ABSA urgently. (Note1 = My mom's mobile phone)
So I phoned ABSA to find out exactly what the problem is.
The attitude I received was nothing short of "We just need to arrive at work everyday, keep our heads down and collect our paychecks" Don't expect any compassion or understanding from this bank.
After explaining the whole situation including the fact that I have full access to online banking and mobile phone for RVN, TVN, and any other sms ABSA can possibly send out for ONE transaction to verify I am who I say I am - The parrot response remained the same: "You do not have signing authority on the account"
I understand banks need to be careful and confirm identities etc but why have RVN, TVN etc plus secret questions and much more when it can't be used in case of emergencies.
ABSA if you want to survive as a business in this Country - send your staff on courses on how to speak 2 customers
