How long is this going to take

I went to fnb featherbrook on Monday to cash a foreign cheque. I went to the tellers and was told I need to go to a consultant. I went to a consultant and filled in the forms and handed over cheque. I then asked how long would it take. I was told he wasn't sure but would send documents that afternoon at 4. The documents were all sent. I then left it until today. I phoned the foreign currency number and was put through to the cheque department. I was helped there but was told they waiting for the branch to respond to them as no one had answered them yet. I then called the branch and have now been told this takes 6- 8 weeks to process. Weather this is true or not I'm not sure but why could I have not been told this in the first place or does it take the branch 6-8 weeks to respond. I have no idea what is happening now or when this will be sorted but it's my money that I would like to receive or at least be advised correctly.

I love banking with FNB and am usually always satisfied with the service.
