Wanted to open a Student Account for my younger sister Karabo. When I arrived at the branch Sarah Chaka asked reason for visit and gave us Student Loan forms to fill in. When we saw the consultant Isaac Pelempe he advised those forms are not appropriate and that he could not assist us as we had a birth certificate. Karabo just turned 16 a couple of months ago and doesn't have an ID yet. It was our 3rd visit to the bank as we were sent back to get a letter from school and that I must be present to sign cohabitant forms. He called his manager and all they were interested in is who gave us the information before. I told them we had been sent back too many times and aren't willing to leave without an account. I said to Isaac I could have gone to other banks he said I must go to other banks and try and see if they will open an account for me with a birth certificate. I decided to leave as I saw nothing could be resolved. I have lodged a complaint on the Nedbank online complaints page.
