I have a vehicle loan account with ABSA. I usually get debited around R4200/month for my vehicle. This month (April 2013) I get debited an extra R1000. So I called their call centre to find out why. Apparently there insurance protection department assumed I don't have car insurance and simply took -R1000 off of my account without any kind of communication as to the fact they would be doing this.
Now I must prove that I have insurance and wait three days to get money back that I actually need. As far as I am concerned it is.
I wander what would have happened if another debit order of mine had bounced as a result of their complete disregard for respecting their clients. Would have been my issue again and I would have been blacklisted or whatever with ZERO accountability or responsibility from their side - 'because the system says so'.
Ridiculous!
