I applied for a Standard bank student loan for my wife's studies last year. The loan was approved and we were instructed to go to the Benoni branch once we have the relevant documentation. We submitted the documentation at the branch and were told that the loan should be paid out within two working days. I was assured that Standard bank will communicate with me during this process. It is now a week later. The loan has not been paid out and I haven't heard a peep from the branch (Benoni, Rothsay str.). I have tried calling the branch multiple times. This is frustrating as the phones are hardly ever answered. And when answered the person transferred to didn't answer the phone just rings until it cuts off. I have phoned multiple times and have left with no answer. I left a message with the switchboard and had no answer. My wife is no at risk of loosing her place due to Standard banks lax service.
