Useless online home loan application facility

On 30/07/13 I applied to extend my existing home loan with Standard Bank using the online application facility. I completed the usual lengthy application for the home loan only to be given no indication that it was submitted successfully, nor did I receive any other communication. Thankfully I knew enough to find the application number in the HTML source. I phoned to verify that they had received the application with that number, they had. A week later I called to find out what the progress was on the application, apparently it was paused due to lack of documentation. Not once was I called, emailed, faxed, SMSed, etc alerting me to the fact that extra documentation was required. They then say I need to go into the bank to make certified copies of the documentation to send to them. What is the point of an online application if I need to go into the branch to submit documentation. Due to personal circumstance I was only able to go into a branch today, needless to say, I need to resubmit the entire application because the previous one was cancelled a day after I submitted. Perhaps it would be easier to move my home loan to another bank where my wife now works?
