Why does Standard Bank only respond when we go to Hello Peter?? We have applied and were granted a student loan by Standard Bank in March, but we still have not signed the papers! We have had numerous appointments with Richard to negotiate this loan for my daughter who is in 3rd year medicine. Firstly, we can never get hold of Richard at the branch, because of the STUPID central call centre, then we went into the branch on several occasions, and were told that Richard wasn't there and no-one else can help us (!!! what hogwash) and would contact us when he came in. We have still not heard from him!!! and Secondly, we are very disappointed that Standard bank refuses to negotiate their rates of 10.5% to what other banks (one being ABSA) are offering of 8.5% They feverishly advertise their student achiever account being especially designed for students and particularly that if you take a student loan you stand a chance to win a Nissan Micra or iPads, etc, etc. Ha Ha. I suppose they are using the poor students loan money overcharge of 2% to fund this??? The only reason why we are looking at Standard bank is because all (myself and 4 children) our accounts are there. What now???
