I currently have 9 months left of a two year contract. The contact ends in February 2014. The contract is a talk 240 contract that I took over from my previous employer. I have a new employer with a new phone and wish to cancell the old one. I visited the Vodacom service center at Sandton City with a view to doing this. After waiting an hour and twenty minutes I was finally told that the cost of cancelling the contract would be R10 928. No one could or would explain how this was derived. I know this is absolute rubbish. The outstanding capital cost of the handset is R938, 27 and this correctly together with an admin fee should constitute the settlement amount. Vodacom's treatement of its customers in this regards is appalling and illegal.
