Writing on behalf of my mother, Vodacom contract customer for last few years. Phoned by Vodacom Sales agent on upgrade of her contract with detail of lower cost contract. My Mother did not understand that this did not entail a handset etc (there are contracts cheaper than the deal the dumped on her now with a handset)
When she phoned over 3 call centre people, was told she cannot cancel (only after 2 years) or must pay fine of over R1000 .
This goes against any procedure and regulations of ICASA, as she simply wants to change the contract to a contract option with a handset - this would not really be cancellation then simply a correction of the contract that was sold to her)
I find Vodacom's service and motives in selling contracts to their customers questionable
