Why is it SO hard to get an upgrade!?

I have been trying to upgrade my phone and contract with Vodacom for almost 2 weeks. I have been into 3 Vodashops and spent over an hour on the phone to get a simple upgrade.

First I was told in the store I couldn't upgrade on 7 April because the brochure with contract information had expired the day before and they couldn't give me a new handset until they had the new printed brochure. I was told this in between the consultant taking personal calls on her cell.

After calling into the upgrade number last Monday (and being on the line for an hour!!), I was told I had been upgraded and my new phone would be delivered to me within 3 to 7 working days. I have just received a call to ask whether I would like to accept the upgrade I had already accepted last week and have been waiting for!?! I will now need to wait another 3 - 7 working days for a phone? So needless to say I told them not to bother with the "free" delivery because it's more hassle than it's worth.

I have been a client of Vodacom for 14 years!!! I have never had to deal with such incompetence just to get a simple upgrade! Maybe it's time to change to a service provider that actually provides service!?
