I was at Mugg & Bean restaurant Waterfront Cape Town yesterday, 24th February, and observed the staff's hygiene practices. They had a yellow bucket filled with water and used a cloth from the bucket to clean the inside of the tomato sauce bottles. They also washed their hands in the same bucket. Instead of using clean kitchen paper, they reused a dirty cloth.By the time I saw several of them rinsing their hands in the water, which was around after 16:00, I'm sure the water was dirty.
The restaurant employs an all-black staff, from the kitchen to the waiters. We live in a very diverse and cosmopolitan city, so it's noticeable when other races are not represented in the staff. Additionally, there is a back manager whom you can't complain to because, once again, they are people from the same group. I want to clarify that I am not a racist, but this situation is too obvious to overlook.
