BEING SUED AFTER END OF CONTRACT

At the end of my contract I went to Virgin Mobile, Boardwalk Shopping Centre, Richards Bay. I told them I want to cancel my contract. They told me they were offline but took all my details and explained that they would attend to this. In May 2012 I received a call from the attorneys acting for virgin mobile who demanded R283 for final payment of contract. I am now receiving further sms's from SSDA of number 0878250600, which number I have tried to get hold of but which goes dead after holding on. My attorneys office phoned Virgin Mobile collections and spoke to a very rude lady who told me I have no proof of having cancelled the contract. When I asked for her details, a statement proving that I owe the money and an email address through which I can correspond, the phone was diverted to ringing and not being answered again.
