Vodacom
Blackmailed into submission

Related to my complaint "Negligence results in more than R1000 in damages".

Vodacom Customer Care got back to me on my complaint and stated that they can credit me for the 20 months of unauthorised deductions, but will then charge me a maximum rate per sms that I sent and it may result in them deducting even more money from me.

When asked if that would be the case, the vague, standoffish individual from Customer Care responded that they will only determine that after I have been credited (thus blackmailing me into submission), if I decide to pursue this course of action. Not having a superhuman memory I said I would be willing to tally up the sms's if they could forward my itemized billing to me. The reply was: certainly at R17.50 per month's billing resulting in a cost of R350.

Suffice to say I am forced to abandon my attempts at getting the funds back at the unsubstantiated possibility of being debited even more based on withheld information.

Vodacom have undoubtedly lost a decade long customer and I will certainly relay this and repugnant treatment to my vast circle of friends and network of colleagues and contemporaries.
