What happened to Telkom?

What on earth happened to Telkom since last year? Their service was still quite good last year, but this year it is non-existent. I reported a fault and had to wait TWO WEEKS for a technician to come out, even though I phoned them each day during that period.
Now I am trying to transfer our current line to a new location, and have been phoning for three days at least five to six times each day. The phone just rings for a very, very long time (I actually put it on speaker so that I can continue working) and then it is cut off.
I even tried the billing department this morning and actually got through. (I thought they would pick up when it had to do with money, and I was right.) However, the person just put me through and here I am, waiting again!!
When trying to phone the 'complaints line', I was told by a 'voice' that the number does not exist?
If that is the service one gets, or rather, does not get, I understand why people do not want to have land lines anymore.
