I have been having trouble with my BB mem card for the last few weeks but was able to "repair" it after it switches off by itself every time. I then tried to back up my phone/card to avoid losing data but failed twice as the desktop manager froze. I then unplugged the phone and both times the battery burnt up and was dead within an hour.
I arrived at the Menlyn Vodacom shop yesterday and was told that they would have to send the phone in for repairs, I would have to see a data specialist. The data specialist told me that it is that specific model of BB that corrupts memory cards - how true this is I don't know. After almost 3 hours in the shop, I booked the phone in and left. I had been home for 5 min when I got an sms saying my devise is ready for collection. I spoke to the guy in the repair center, he said all they had to do was replace the battery and memory card.
Upon collection this morning, I found that they had only replaced the battery - WHICH WAS THE LEAST OF MY CONCERN. Over all I feel that they don't really know what they are doing and I could have saved a lot of time by buying a new battery and memory card myself and not have to wait and drive back and forth.
